My routine evolves as my hair grows, but I've managed to create a rather simple routine. The steps are as follows:
Updated 9/19/14
1. Pre-poo 45 minutes or overnight using warmed homemade Olive Oil blend or Coconut Oil with whatever conditioner I have lying around if I'm shampooing.
2. Cleanse with Bee Mine Botanical Shampoo(sulfate-free of course) or As I Am Coconut Co-Wash in 6 sections.
3. I rinse the cleanser from my hair in sections thoroughly before applying Bee Mine Avocado Balanced Conditioner (if I shampoo otherwise I just skip to the next step) from root to tip, cover with a plastic processing cap, and proceed with my shower.
4. When my shower is complete, I rinse each section thoroughly and distribute my leave-in of choice. My favorites include: Camille Rose Naturals Fresh Curl, Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave-In Conditioner, Darcy's Botanicals Curl Detangling Milk, my homemade Coconut Milk Leave-In Conditioner, my homemade Flaxseed Gel Milk or SM Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Deep Treatment Masque (more on both later).
5. Next, I section my hair into small to medium sections and smooth a dab of Kynx I Am Unique Texture Defining Gel, Homemade Flaxseed Gel (my fav), Camille Naturals Fresh Curl, or SM Superfruit Masque into each section and allow hair to air dry after shaking out excess water for wash-n-gos or proceed to step 7 for stretched styles.
7. For stretched styles such as twist outs, coils, or braid outs, I coil, twist or braid each section after coating it lightly with the styler of my choice. I plop all stretched styles except Bantu Knots, Coils, and wrapped twist/braid outs. I allow all stretched styles to dry overnight, but I use either a satin scarf or bonnet in addition to my satin pillowcase.
8. Henndigo at least every two months with Nupur 9, which comes pre-mixed with herbal goodies, mixed with coconut or goat's milk and Indigo powder mixed with water.
